What Is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical body contouring procedure that permanently removes unwanted body fat.

How Does CoolSculpting® Work?

CoolSculpting® delivers controlled cooling through an applicator and gel pad to the fat cells beneath the skin. The fat cells freeze and die, and the body flushes them out over the following weeks.

Am I a Candidate for CoolSculpting®?

Candidates are men or women with excess fat that is resistant to exercise and diet. Patients should be healthy and at or near their goal weight. As with all body sculpting procedures, realistic expectations are required. Candidates may also desire a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.

What Areas Can CoolSculpting® Treat?

CoolSculpting® can remove fat from the inner thighs, outer thighs, abdomen, hips, and neck. This treatment can be used to minimize love handles, a muffin top, saddlebags, a double chin, and more.

Can I Have Multiple Areas Treated in the Same Session?

CoolSculpting® can be performed on multiple areas of the body during the same treatment session.

What Does CoolSculpting® Feel Like?

For most patients, the treated area goes numb within 5 or 10 minutes after the treatment begins. Some may feel a slight tugging or tingling as the device massages the area. Patients are able to relax, read a book, check their phones, or even take a short nap during the procedure.

What Is the Recovery Like?

There is no recovery after CoolSculpting® treatments. Patients can immediately resume normal activities.

How Long Is the Treatment?

A CoolSculpting® treatment session may last 35 to 60 minutes.

Will I Need Multiple Treatments?

Patients may benefit from multiple treatment sessions. As you discuss your needs with Dr. Roussalis, he will recommend a treatment plan for you.

How Does CoolSculpting® Compare to Liposuction?

CoolSculpting® and liposuction are both effective fat removal procedures that produce permanent results. Two major differences are that liposuction is a surgical procedure and yields immediate results, whereas CoolSculpting® is non-surgical and leads to noticeable results over several months. CoolSculpting®’s advantages over liposuction are that it requires no anesthesia, no incisions, no scarring, and no recovery.

Is CoolSculpting® Safe?

CoolSculpting® is safe, effective, and FDA approved. Since fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than the surrounding tissues, only the fat cells are frozen. No surrounding tissue is harmed during the treatment.

What Is the Cost of CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® treatments are customized, so the cost will vary according to your needs. Dr. Roussalis will give you an accurate account of the anticipated cost based on your consultation.

Are There Side Effects of CoolSculpting®?

Side effects of CoolSculpting® treatments are rare and minimal. Some patients may experience temporary numbness, redness, bruising, swelling, firmness, tingling, or stinging for up to two weeks.

When Will I See My Results?

The results of CoolSculpting® become apparent over time, with initial results appearing as early as three weeks after treatment. The final results take approximately four to six months and will reveal a better-sculpted body and more balanced and attractive contours.

How Long Do the Results Last?

CoolSculpting® destroys and permanently eliminates fat cells from the body. You will always have less fat after the procedure. However, your remaining fat cells can increase in size if you gain weight. CoolSculpting® has been known to be a great motivator to live a healthy lifestyle and avoid weight gain.
