Laser hair removal with the Light Sheer® Duet™ laser can lead to permanent hair removal on the face, neck, back, underarms, legs, and many other areas of the body. Results vary among patients; some may experience complete and permanent hair removal, while others show only slight improvement. On average, patients experience about an 80 percent reduction in hair growth after 5 to 9 treatment sessions.
Who will get the best results with laser hair removal?
Dr. Roussalis uses the Light Sheer® Duet™ laser at his practice. This laser is FDA approved for permanent hair reduction on all skin types as well as tanned skin, but patients who experience the best results in the fewest amount of treatments usually have light skin with dark hair.
For effective hair removal, each hair must be in its active growth phase. Since all hair on the body will not be in its active growth phase at one time, several treatments are usually needed to achieve total hair removal in the given area. For those who are tired of tweezing, waxing, and shaving, this quick and painless procedure is an excellent option.
What happens during laser hair removal?
The length of one treatment will depend on the size of the area being treated, but the average treatment takes about 30 minutes. If used properly, laser hair removal will feel like a rubber band snapping against the skin. A topical anesthetic can be applied to make patients with sensitive skin more comfortable. Patients can resume regular activity immediately following treatment.
Some patients may report that laser hair removal did not work on them, but they often are unaware that full results may not be apparent for up to a year because of hair’s natural growth cycle.
